LOS BARRILES, BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR
A private coastal retreat on the Sea of Cortez
Casa Tres Palmas is a private luxury retreat in Los Barriles, Baja California Sur, offering a seamless blend of coastal relaxation and authentic Baja adventure. Located just steps from the Sea of Cortez, this modern two-bedroom ocean-front home features a tranquil courtyard pool, rooftop sunset deck, and thoughtfully designed indoor-outdoor living spaces.
Ideal for couples or small groups, Tres Palmas delivers a refined yet laid-back escape where guests can unwind in complete privacy while remaining close to the vibrant culture and outdoor experiences Los Barriles is known for.
INSIDE
An entire wall of glass folds open to erase the line between living room and beachfront. The Sea of Cortez becomes part of the room — warm sand underfoot, salt air drifting through, the sound of the ocean filling every corner. Morning coffee here feels like a private meditation; evenings unfold with golden light flooding in from the west.
Each of the two ground-floor king suites opens directly to the Sea of Cortez. The primary suite connects to the courtyard and saltwater pool; the second offers a private garden entrance and its own ocean sightline. Both feature premium linens, handcrafted details, and the kind of stillness that makes you forget what day it is.
The shower blends seamlessly into the courtyard garden — step from the indoor bathroom through natural stone into an open-air rinse surrounded by greenery and sky. It is one of those rare touches that makes you feel like you are staying somewhere truly special.
Premium appliances, quality cookware, and everything you need to prepare a proper meal — from a quick breakfast to a multi-course dinner party. The sightline draws through the courtyard all the way to the ocean. Fresh local produce is available nearby, and the garden outside provides herbs right at your doorstep.
A formal indoor dining table seats everyone comfortably, with a convenient half bath for the common spaces. Laundry is available on-site, so you can pack light and stay long.
OUTDOORS
The entire property is one level, centered around a lush walled courtyard that opens to the Sea of Cortez. A saltwater pool anchors the space, surrounded by native palms, flowering desert plants, and natural stone. The courtyard connects the pool, outdoor kitchen, daybed lounge, fire pit, and outdoor dining — everything flows together at ground level, steps from the beach.
At ground level with the pool courtyard, the outdoor kitchen is fully equipped with a gas grill, wood-fire grill, and pizza stone oven. An outdoor dining table seats the entire group al fresco among the garden. Cook with ingredients from the local market, grill fresh-caught fish, and dine while the sun sets over the Sierra de la Laguna ridgeline — all without leaving the courtyard.
Built-in fire pit seating invites long evenings half-submerged in the warm pool water, flames low as the sky above turns from gold to deep indigo. The outdoor daybed and lounge furniture are tucked among the garden — perfect for afternoon reading or watching the stars come out. This is where mornings start slow and evenings stretch long.
A freestanding copper soaking tub tucked into the native plant garden among flowering plants and natural stone. Fill it at golden hour and let the warmth soak through while the ocean breeze cools your shoulders. Outdoor wellness the way it should be — unhurried, private, surrounded by beauty.
The beach is less than a hundred feet from the front gate — walk straight out onto the sand of the Sea of Cortez. A beachside hammock hangs among the palms for lazy afternoons. The covered front patio with Adirondack chairs offers a shaded spot to watch the waves, read, or simply sit with a morning coffee as the sun climbs over the water.
The property is surrounded by a native plant garden of desert-adapted flora, flowering succulents, and tropical palms — a beautiful, low-water landscape that feels completely at home in Baja. A fresh produce garden provides herbs, greens, and seasonal ingredients right at your doorstep for cooking in either the indoor or outdoor kitchen.
Accessible via stairs on the side of the house, the rooftop is an open, beautiful space with comfortable furniture to enjoy both sunrises and sunsets. Sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez by day, a canopy of stars by night — a private perch above the palms for morning coffee, evening cocktails, and everything in between.
THE EXPERIENCE
Casa Tres Palmas is not a hotel and not a typical rental. There is no front desk, no turn-down service, no scripted itinerary. What there is: a beautifully designed private home, stocked and prepared for your arrival, with local knowledge and support a message away.
This is a place for people who know what they want from a trip — and prefer to find it on their own terms.
A personal welcome guide with recommendations for restaurants, provisions, activities, and local logistics — curated, not generic.
The house is yours. No scheduled check-ins, no interruptions. Local support is always a message away for a recommendation, a reservation, or a hand — but the rhythm of each day is entirely up to you.
EXPLORE
The East Cape is one of Baja's best-kept secrets — a stretch of open coastline, warm turquoise water, and unhurried days between the mountains and the sea.
Los Barriles is world-renowned for kiteboarding — consistent El Norte winds blow November through March. Sail a Hobie Cat, ride a hydrofoil, paddleboard at sunrise, or just wade into the warm, swimmable water steps from the front gate.
Sunrise fishing charters for dorado, yellowfin tuna, and marlin depart from the marina daily. The Sea of Cortez — Cousteau's "Aquarium of the World" — delivers some of the best sportfishing on the planet, right from your doorstep.
Explore Baja's legendary backcountry by ATV or side-by-side. Splash through desert river crossings, climb into the Sierra de la Laguna foothills, and discover hidden canyons and hot springs on trails that only locals know.
Join beach yoga sessions with the ocean as your backdrop, or find your flow in local indoor studios. Los Barriles offers wellness classes ranging from sunrise yoga on the sand to guided meditation — the perfect balance to an active Baja day.
The East Cape is home to world-class pickleball facilities with dedicated courts and a welcoming community. Whether you are a seasoned player or picking up a paddle for the first time, drop-in games and organized play run throughout the week.
Miles of sandy coastline, warm water, and solitude. Ride horses along the shore, hike into the Sierra de la Laguna foothills, or explore hidden waterfalls. Watch whales breach offshore during season. The best sunsets in Baja are free.
WILDLIFE
From dolphins and manta rays to sea turtles and sea lions — the waters off Los Barriles teem with life year-round.
Whether you spend your days exploring the wild coastline or never leave the courtyard, Casa Tres Palmas puts the best of Baja California Sur at your doorstep.

TRAVEL
Casa Tres Palmas is approximately 60 miles north of the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). Most international flights arrive here, making it the primary gateway. The scenic drive north along the coastal highway takes roughly one to one and a half hours.
The La Paz International Airport (LAP) is about an hour and a half south of the property. La Paz offers a quieter arrival experience with connections from mainland Mexico and select U.S. cities — a great alternative route in.
A rental car is recommended. While the town of Los Barriles is walkable, the property is located at the edge of town — roughly a five-minute drive from downtown and the walkable commercial areas. A standard sedan works in normal conditions; 4WD is useful in rainy season.
